I am frequently asked what made me get into the world of cake decorating and I reply that it was my incredible mother. Not because she taught me how to intricately decorate with buttercream or make the perfect ganache, but because (bless her heart) she made hideous cakes. They were lopsided and crummy and not the most aesthetically pleasing. But because of her I decided to give it a try; she bought me cake pans and ingredients and allowed me to make a mess of our kitchen. She supported me through every step and has helped me make my business what it is today, because of this I will be forever grateful to her. My business started out as an accident. I began making cakes for my family birthday parties and people began to take interest, after a few Facebook and instagram posts my cake business took off. 327 cakes later I have my own original logo, t-shirts, and bumper stickers. I have learned how to manage a website, how to market myself, and how to manage finances. This has been the most rewarding, exciting, and eye opening experiences of my life so far and I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has ordered, followed, encouraged, and supported me. cakes by Jan Morgan
